According to reports, the Cleveland Indians have agreed to a trade with the Colorado Rockies that will send Drew Stubbs to Colorado for pitcher Josh Outman. Stubbs, who is now 29, has a lot of tools to be a good outfielder, but has a decent amount of problem areas as well. Stubbs is very fast and plays fantastic outfield defense at all three positions. He also provides a great deal of power and is capable of hitting 15-20 homers a year. He does strike out a lot and doesn't get on base all that well which puts a damper on how much he can use his speed on the base paths. He also has very apparent platoon splits, as he has hit lefties a whole lot better over his career than righties, evidenced by his career slash vs RHP of .226/.296/.356 compared to his career slash vs LHP of .274/.349/.448. Stubbs will add to Colorado's stockpile of athletic outfielders which now also includes Brandon Barnes who they acquired from the Astros earlier this winter. He is currently in arbitration and Colorado will likely have to pay him north of $3.5 million this upcoming year, and he represents a good buy low guy for Colorado. Josh Outman is a 29 year old lefty reliever who has struggled at times over his major league career. Formerly a starter, Colorado used him solely out of relief last year and he put up a 4.33 ERA over 54 innings pitched. Outman could be slotted into a middle relief role in Cleveland for the time being. The Rockies are the clear winner of this trade as the Indians were just dropping excess costs. If Stubbs plays how hece is capable of playing, he could really make a differ
