On a rather slow opening day to baseball's winter meetings, there were two important announcements made. The first was the election of Bobby Cox, Tony La Russa, and Joe Torre to the Hall of Fame. This was a very important and great announcement, but everyone saw it coming. The other announcement was that Roy Halladay was going to retire from baseball. It's a very unfortunate circumstance for Halladay, as just a few years ago he was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. I can still remember watching his no-hitter in the NLDS a few years back. He has truly been one of my favorite pitchers to watch and follow over the years just because of the way he went about his business. He has always been one of the hardest working players in the league and he definitely earned his success. The two time Cy Young winner will end his career with an ERA of 3.38 and 203 career wins. He will definitely be missed in the game and I wish him only the best.
