Omar Infante and the Kansas City Royals have just agreed on a 4 year $30 million deal. Infante who will be 32 at the beginning of the year will join Norichika Aoki and Jason Vargas as major additions to Kansas City this offseason. Infante is coming off a year in which he batter .318 and provided a strong 2.4 WAR for the first place Detroit Tigers. He has been a consistently above average second baseman thoroughout his career and will bring some much needed stability to second base for the Royals. Not known as a great fielder, Infante will provide solid but unspectacular defense for the Royals. The former All-Star can also be moved about the diamond if need be as he has major league experience at every position other than first, catcher, and pitcher. Coming off of one of the better seasons in his career, Infante is definitely a welcomed addition in Kansas City and should fit in well with a team that hasn't had a quality second baseman in a few years. Even though he won't make them instant contenders, this is a good pickup for the Royals and a solid landing spot for Infante himself.
