The Mariners have added yet another piece to their lineup this offseason by resigning outfielder Franklin Gutierrez to a one year deal worth $1 million with incentives that could add another $2 million. Gutierrez has spent his last five seasons with the Mariners, but ever since posting stellar numbers in his first year in Seattle, he hasn't been able to stay on the field enough to be great. If he can stay on the field, Gutierrez has the potential to be one of the best centerfielders in the game, as he possesses decent power with good speed and superb defense in the outfield. He can't seem to get over the injuries though as he hasn't been able to put up more then 150 at bats in either of the past two years, and he's only played in 173 total games over the past three. Gutierrez will be 31 this upcoming season, and the potential to be great is still there, so if he can find a way to stay on the field, the Mariners will have added another great player to a now reloaded lineup. Be afraid AL West, the Mariners aren't done yet.
