Wow today has been amazing! Cano, Granderson, Kuroda, Feldman with lesser names like Arencibia and Webb coming off the board as well and we're barely halfway through the day. Where to even start with this group is beyond me. Ill give Cano the first go. With 10 years $240million, the Mariners are banking on him being the next Griffey Jr. for their organization. What the Mariners do have going for them is the fact that they still have a young team with an enviable pitching staff that is going to get even better with the additions of the likes of Taijuan Walker and James Paxton. They have a very young projected lineup Cano becoming the only starter over the age of 27 for next year, and they have a lot of potentially strong players on they roster. Yet their problem is still the same, their potential hasn't translated into success. The right players haven't yet made important steps forward and they just can't climb up into a true contender. Cano will of course help for a couple of years, but if others don't step up we will more than likely be looing at the same old Mariners over and over again. Look for them to still add a bullpen arm or two this offseason along with possibly an outfielder. Also they may be shopping Nick Franklin now that Cano will be manning second for years to come. I would see him as a potential steal for the right team via a trade.
